HOW TO OBTAIN MEDICAL LICENSE IN ABU DHABI AND AL AIN
The Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD) is the regulative body of the Healthcare Sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and ensures excellence in Healthcare for the community by monitoring the health status of the population. It is also responsible to license issuing for Health Professional License valid in Abu Dhabi
Licensing
All Health Professionals are required to obtain their licensure prior to practicing in any healthcare facility within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The license must be current and valid at all time during the clinical practice of the health professional. Health professionals must ensure renewing their licensure 3 months prior to the expiry date. A Health Professional license is associated with the healthcare facility their working for. Procedure time takes 3 – 4 months.

Requirements regarding Qualification and Experience for demanded Position and Tier category:
“Tier” is a term used to indicate a category of qualifications for postgraduate education for medical/dental doctors. The determination of these categories is based on the level and presence of academic structure and competency based evaluation during qualifying degree. It is important to note that Tier 1 and Tier 2 qualifications lead to consultant licensure (with the only difference being in the number of required years of experience post certification). Tier 3 qualifications lead to specialist licensure, consultant licensure cannot be attained through Tier 3 qualifications. Final licensure granted (e.g. Consultant, Specialist) connotes the acquisition of equivocal standards of medical competence, duties, and rights for all health professionals within that title irrespective of which tier level was used to grant the license. (i.e. Consultant status granted through Tier 2 qualifications is considered equal to consultant status granted through Tier 1 qualifications. Similarly, specialist status granted through tier 1, 2 or 3 are all equal).

Recognized Specialty Certificates according to Countries:
Certificates and qualifications are evaluated using the following criteria:
1. The country and institution from which the certificate was awarded.
2. The level of international recognition of the Certificate.
3. The duration and content of study, with special emphasis on the presence or absence of clinical practice/practical training as relevant to the type of licensure

Steps of Licensing the Health Professionals
HAAD is partnered with Dataflow to simplify the process of performing International background checks for all Healthcare Professionals to ensure that documents and information on the application form are genuine. Dataflow is responsible for Application and Verification procedure, as follows:

Completes the details of the educational qualification, health license and work experience, in addition to the supporting documents as per HAAD PQR
